Editor-N-Chief:)Hey there fellow Goddess Queens of the Universe!!! This is a picture of me on the phone with Orlando Bloom. APRIL FOOLS!!! This week’s entry is another multimedia of my mind. Just one last thing to say… April showers bring May flowers, but Mayflowers bring pilgrims. Enjoy.

Movies-A-Go-Go:)
This weeks movies-a-go-go features a little Denzel, Clive, Jodie action/drama flick called Inside Man. Yet another brilliant Spike Lee film, Inside Man follows a bank robbery with a twist. But, as most critiques are focused on the bank robbery twist, I was more focused on the “twist-of-lemon”. That’s right Def Poetry Jam fans, though my main interest was on the main characters and intriguing Jodie Foster sub-plot, I couldn’t help but notice, not one, but two brilliant background cameos. The first was from none other than Def Poetry Jam’s “Lemon Anderson”, and the other famed actor Daryl Mitchell. Check out their Feature Focuses below.
Feature Focus Daryl Mitchell:
Bronx born Daryl “Chill” Mitchell, though best known for his work in films like 10 Things I Hate About You, and Galaxy Quest is an actor of many masks. Though in the 80’s he’s tried his hand in Hip-Hop with his group Groove B. Chill, Mitchell has shown his serious side in Law and Order: Criminal Intent and now in this cameo role in Inside Man. Paralyzed from the waist down in a motorcycle accident in November, 2001, Daryl proves himself a man of extraordinary will and talent. He may be down, but he’s far from out.
Feature Focus Lemon Andersen:
This article comes from the following website:
http://www.lemonshood.com/
Lemon Andersen is a highly critically acclaimed renaissance man, a regular on HBO’s Def Poetry, an original cast member and writer of then Tony award winning Def Poetry Jam on Broadway, a drama desk nominee, he has traveled the spoken word and theatre scene for the last eight years, was chosen as the poet to help sign Lebron James to Nike, recently shot two films with Spike Lee, A lead role on “sucker free city” a new film for Showtime and Spikes latest “She Hates Me”, as well as performing as the lead actor in a short film heading for sundance next summer called Avending Angel. Lemon opened up for recording artist Ashanti at this years HOT 97/FUSE TV fashion show. His theatre credits include Slanguage which he co-wrote with Universes a theatre group directed by Jo Bonney at the New York Theatre Workshop. Other off Broadway appearances include The Ride at PS 122, “U” (Slanguage Workshop) at the Mark Taper Forum, Scotland’s fringe festival and The Painted Bride. Lemon is currently taking dictation and dialect classes with Sam Chwat and acting classes with Susan Batson and has taught master performance art workshops at different universities, colleges and venues including Harvard, Princeton, UMASS and Sing Sing prison to name a few. Lemon was born and raised in New York City.
Failure to Launch VS The Break-Up:
Failure to Launch failed to launch me into hysterics. I think it was the awkward pairing of Matthew McConaughey and Sarah Jessica Parker that didn’t make it for me. The plot is awkwardly fun and predictable, but the cast seems “Lego-like” in that they are interchangeable in any other romantic comedy with no real chemistry jelling between each other in the film. It wasn’t the lack of acting ability or lack of challenging roles in this movie. After all, the film is simply made for fun and laughter. However, as you watch the film, you can’t help but get the sneaking suspicion that casting directors haven’t found the perfect on-screen match for Parker or McConaughey as of yet, and are throwing everyone and their mother together until they find the perfect match. Simply stated at the end of the movie I was left with four little words… Barf and/or hiss.
I simply cannot wait for yet another romantic comedy... namely, The Break-Up with Jennifer Aniston and Vince Vaughn. I’m sure I speak for most Goddess Queens of the Universe when I say I cannot wait to see the on-screen chemistry between these two. Rumors have been circulating for the longest time about the real off set tryst of Aniston and Vaughn. Although unconfirmed by either, it’s bound to make for a box-office smash. After all, who doesn’t want to see Vaughn in a romantic comedy with Aniston while he’s filming Mr. and Mrs. Smith II with Aniston’s ex and the woman who tore them asunder?!! Ahhh, ain’t Hollywood grand?
Orlando Bloom. Orlando Bloom. Oh yeah, and did I mention… Orlando Bloom?:)
The only reason I bring him up besides the obvious “hottie-factor” is the following:
July 7th 2006, Pirates of the Caribbean-Treasures of the Lost Abyss hits theatres everywhere. Both Keira Knightley and Johnny Depp reprise their roles as the less-than-demure damsel in distress<--( try saying that three times fast) Mrs. Elizabeth Swan and the madd “in craft” pirate Captain Jack Sparrow. Even Walt Disney Theme Parks in Orlando Florida are getting in on the action by re-renovating their ever famous Magic Kingdom ride “Pirates of the Caribbean”. The changes will mirror the movies of the same title, and include characters from the films. I for one can’t wait to see how realistic they can make the animatronics of one Mr. Bloom. Yippee!!!
